CheapCarInsuranceinc.com Rating:
Although Encompass has been a subsidiary of the Allstate group since the turn of the century, the company itself has been selling personal insurance products in America’s breadbasket since 1897. Presently, as an Allstate subsidiary, they make up the majority of personal insurance products which Allstate sells. Encompass also offers Automobile insurance coverage to higher-risk drivers who might otherwise not be able to find coverage – but at a price. The financials of Encompass are strong, so customers shouldn’t lose sleep over whether or not the company is capable of forking out out on claims. The claims process itself, however, has received complaints from customers over the years. Yet every other aspect of customer service from Encompass, such as agent interaction, repairs, and rental car services are rated fairly well.

Encompass prefers to offer its customers an EncompassOne Policy, which protects any vehicles you own, your home, and other valuable property (such as jewelry or fur coats). However, if you’re looking for simple Automobile insurance coverage, they have that too. In addition to the usual coverage options (Liability, Comprehensive/Collision, etc.), they also offer their auto policy customers:
Comparing different “risk profiles” – your likelihood of filing a claim and therefore costing your insurance company money – is important when shopping around for an insurance policy. Companies love to advertise low rates for drivers, but these lower rates are usually resolved for those with a lower risk profile.
As you can see in this chart, Encompass does offer a fairly good value to those drivers who have a lower risk profile (such as homeowners, good students, and married couples). Higher risk drivers, however, will still be able to get coverage from Encompass – just at a immensely higher rate. To be fair, even at higher rates, these high-risk drivers still may be getting a better deal than with another provider. This is why it’s so important to compare multiple quotes from multiple companies before you decide on an insurance provider.
Pro | Con |
Strong financial rating | Multiple customer service complaints regarding the claims process |
Good variety of coverage options to choose from | Higher premiums for high-risk drivers |
Encompass offers multiple attractive options for many drivers across the United States. Their unique personal insurance products offer customers the convenience of protecting multiple properties at the same time, and they have solid financial strength. However, their claims service is less than perfect (according to customer reviews) and even though they are willing to offer auto policies to high-risk drivers, they do so at a much higher rate than their low-risk customers. But if you think Encompass might be the right insurer for you, be sure to compare them to the local competition with our free quote tool below.
